Drew was first influenced by the distinct sound of electronic music in the early 90's when production from FSOL, The Orb, Praga Khan, GTO and The Shamen would occasionaly make its way thru the veil of radio-friendly dance music. After a finishing a 3-year Graphic Design program in Toronto, listening mostly to acid jazz, old school funk and big beat, Drew moved to Vancouver and was introduced to a wider palette of sounds: mixed CD's by Sasha, John Digweed and the Global Underground label, the FunkyDesertBreaks series by DJ John Kelley, Logical Progressions and the follow up Progression Sessions on LTJ's Good Looking Records, and the NinjaTune label have all had an impact on Drew's taste of music and style of DJ'ing.

With an open mind to various genres, labels and producers, Drew eventually came across the elusive sounds of techno. "It was 'Decks, FX and 909' by Richie Hawtin that did it for me – it was subtle and brash, rising and falling but always deep. It begged for further investigation. It was definitely one of the bigger influences in my decision to switch from playing the guitar – which I had done for over ten years – to DJ'ing. Seeing Danny Howells play a small afterparty was another major experience."

Since the summer of 2001, Drew has been a part of Vancouver's Soundproof crew – a DJ collective throwing quality underground events, the tickets to their shows being sold purely by word-of-mouth. Listen to a DJ set of Drew's and you'll hear a wide range of sounds, emotions and perhaps tempos – but all with a techno spirit. "If it speaks to me on a specific level – evokes an emotion, or demands my full attention – then I'll try to use it in whatever way I can to get the crowd moving on their feet."
